  • What is a Masterpiece tattoo?

They are the high quality tattoos published by the tattooers in the community, voted by InkonSky's editorial team.

A tattoo of the highest quality rewarded by the editors of the community
The highest badge a tattoo can get in the community. Chosen among more than 75 publishers with a common goal, to establish the standard of quality in the art of tattooing. Community editors follow certain guidelines:

    Reasons for not being selected
    • Quality of the line. If a tattoo has no definition of contours it cannot be Masterpiece.
    • Fills. If a tattoo has badly degraded fillings or simply over tattooed it can not be Masterpiece.
    • Image quality. If the photo is pixelated (very important), uses frames, collages or backgrounds manipulated cannot be Masterpiece.
    • Duplication. A Masterpiece for each tattoo, not each publication of the same tattoo, so we avoid false statistics.
On the other hand the editors do not value in the selection of Masterpieces the following aspects:

    Reasons that are not evaluated
    • Topic. The themes used in the tattoos do not affect the selection.
    • Tonality. Tones or colors do not affect the selection.
    • Complexity. The difficulty in the elaboration of a tattoo does not affect the selection.
What must be understood is that a Masterpiece tattoo is a tattoo that meets the expectations of the editors of the community. So there can be very basic and simple tattoos that are Masterpieces, but tattoos with great complexity are not. The standards are set by the best tattooers in the specific styles. For example an old school tattoo will be evaluated differently than a realistic tattoo. The standard of an old school tattoo will be more subtle and a higher definition of finish will be required, whereas in a black & grey tattoo editors will value depth or gradients.
  • What's the Ink Master badge for tattoo artists?

One of the prerequisites for becoming an Ink Master is that your tattoos have outstanding quality overall.

    Ink on Sky's top award
Steps to become an Ink Master

The first thing you'll need to do for Ink on Sky editors to award your quality as an Ink Master is to create a profile in the community and publish a number of relevant tattoos. The editors consult daily everything published in the community and once you have an important volume of Masterpieces you will be selected as Ink Master. The editors will not answer the messages to be selected, we ask for calm and respect to our way to do things.

Is it possible to pay to become an Ink Master?

No, all appearances in the Ink Masters section are free, serious and impartial. The value of being an Ink Master is the objectivity of our editors.

    Why haven't you selected me?

We don't usually select many artists as Ink Master. The standards set are very high, particular and, fortunately, personal, out of a team of 75 people. We never indicate the reason for not being selected, it would be frivolous and uncomfortable. We simply select those of the highest quality, with personal criteria. The editors of the community are the hard core of this community, we have the intrinsic and totally respectful right to be able to select whoever we please. We cannot apologize for not selecting you, as selecting you as Ink Master is not a right, it is a gift derived from our admiration for your work. That admiration is cunning and selfish.
  • What are the rankings of Ink on Sky?

These are publications elaborated by the team of editors of Ink on Sky. The rankings are selections of tattooists filtered by their location, style or quality. They are elaborated with months of work, guaranteeing strict quality requirements.

Listings of the best tattooists selected by the editors of the community
Generally only those tattoo artists who are Ink Masters are eligible to appear in the rankings. To appear in a ranking you must create an account and publish your work. The editors of the community evaluate everything published every day.

The rankings are drawn up on a non-profit basis. We do not accept donations or financial contributions to appear in them.

Many of our rankings are visited daily thousands of times, a free promotion of which we are very proud.

Rankings are usually focused on the most consulted territories on the platform. Sometimes we rank seemingly small cities, for the exceptional quality of their artists or for the simple pleasure of doing so. Therefore, we ask for a certain calm and let the team of editors have fun.

If you consider that a ranking is badly executed or the selection of artists is not correct, do not hesitate to contact us. We demand weighty reasons and unfounded comments are not considered at all. We require respect both for those selected and for the editors who have produced the rankings.
  • Why are there sponsors in the community?

These allow us to offer a totally free space for the tattoo artist, free of interests and conflicts.

Top brands keep the community alive
Keeping the community alive requires costs that have long ceased to be small. Ink on Sky requires dedicated servers with enough space to accommodate hundreds of thousands of tattoos and a bandwidth capable of accepting several million visits every month. All of this is paid for by the various community sponsors.

Our community is sponsored by the most respected brands in the tattoo industry, something we are very proud and grateful for.

If you wish to contact us to collaborate, you can use our contact form and we will be delighted to help you.
  • How to become part of the team of editors?

Being an editor isn't a game. Being an editor means loving the art of tattooing. To be an editor is to be a good person. It's about giving without expecting to get anything in return.

You can contribute in making the quality of the tattoo the most important aspect of this art
The team of editors are responsible for analyzing everything published in the community on a daily basis. Being an editor is a totally unselfish task and requires real time to vote for all tattoos published in the community.

To become an editor you must contact us to let us know that you are interested. We will contact you and evaluate your ability to analyze different tattoos through a simple test.

Once you are part of the team of editors, your altruistic task will be to evaluate the quality of the tattoos published in the community. Your vote along with the vote of 9 other editors, will be able to decide if a work deserves to be a Masterpiece or not. Obviously, editors cannot rate their own work.
  • How do I appear on the tattoo artists map?

It's very simple. In the profile edition you will be able to indicate your address and the exact location of where you normally work.

Being on the tattooers map is your chance to show off to your closest neighbours
Being on the tattoo artists map is essential for receiving appointments and getting to know each other. Tattooing is an art that demands artists that are close to a specific location. Every day thousands of people consult our artists map looking for artists close to their location.

To appear on the map simply add your location by editing your profile. It does not require validations and is completely free.

The works you do in another studio as a guest, can be marked when publishing them as done in another studio and thus leave a trail of where you move.
  • How to report an error?

We all make mistakes, even more between hundreds of thousands of lines of code, but there is always a solution!

Notify us of a mistake and we'll make you our friend
Sometimes the community appears to be programmed by monkeys. We are not perfect, which is why we make thousands of mistakes. If you see any kind of mistake and you let us know we will be very grateful. You can do it from our contact form. All users who notify us of an error receive the "Ink Friend" badge next to their name in the profile.

This community would not exist without interaction with the tattooists. It would be a mere repository in which they would not be at ease, nor would we. We want the tattooists to feel at home, to listen to them and to offer them a tool to show their work openly.

If you think we could improve something, don't hesitate to tell us, please!
  • What is Ink on Sky's philosophy?

The soul of Ink on Sky arises from the lack of ethics on the Internet. We philosophize constantly. Ink on Sky is a website that was created without any specific objectives. Today it is a portal to which we dedicate ourselves body and soul.

Love for the art of tattooing and its artists. We offer you a 100% free space
We are, with no intention, a referent in the world of tattooing. Becoming so has not been easy, no one really knows the reasons. Maybe, just maybe, it is due to our philosophy.

It consists in offering a free and objective space, without preferences for any artist or region. We collaborate with quite a few tattoo schools for free, perhaps because we like to see the quality of the tattoo and the artists improve. We make rankings for free because we recognize the efforts of the best tattoo artists.

We deeply respect the authorship of tattoos. So much so that our website does not contain a single tattoo not associated with an artist.

Thousands of people have been tattooed thanks to our portal and that gives us goosebumps.

Our goal is to provide you with an online space where you are objectively recognized as an artist, not to compare you, but to give you what you deserve for all the work done. We recognize the effort and the talent and we try to reward it so that both you and others are actualized and motivated day after day.
  • How and why should you register in the community?

There are many tattoo pages where you have to pay for advertising. Our style is different, we are totally free, always.

Free promotion targeting thousands of users
Internet allows us to know the most interesting tattoo artists, however locating a tattoo artist is in many cases very difficult. Our community allows users to find the nearest tattoo artist in a simple and enjoyable way.

If you are a professional tattoo artist and you want to increase your clientele, register in the community to make yourself known among the thousands of users we receive daily. Ninety-nine percent of our visitors come to our community looking for a tattoo artist, which is logical considering that our portal appears with the word "tattoo artist" in the top positions of Google, by city or country.

If you already have a busy schedule for the next 12 months, surely our ink collectors would like to know that you exist and will know that the wait will be worthwhile.

The reception of the appointments is direct, it does not pass through our hands and you will receive them directly from the client. You can also edit the status of the request for appointments and not receive them during the period of time you want.
  • Who can publish tattoos?

All publications are copyrighted. Everything published on Ink on Sky belongs to its authors only.

The creators of the works will be those who can publish their work
Anyone can post tattoos on Ink on Sky. The only requirements are to have an account in the community and be the author of the tattoos or wear them on your skin. Published tattoos may be selected as Masterpieces by the editors.

The editors evaluate everything published several times a day. The editors' internal voting system will define whether the published tattoo is Masterpiece or not. We achieve objectivity thanks to the large number of editors who dedicate their time selflessly to the project.

If we detect that a user publishes very disparate tattoos of dubious origin, we let them know so that they remove the works and do not continue to do so.

We like to know the artist of all the tattoos, so as not to return to the Middle Ages in which many works were not signed by their authors. While it's romantic, it's a hassle for those who love your work!
  • Are the photos I publish still of my authorship?

Your space, your copyright. We do not want to have authorship of the content, we only want you to be part of the largest community of tattooists in the world.

Everything you publish will always belong to you
Absolutely everything you publish will always be yours with no exceptions. Ink on Sky will only show your publications together with your name and your profile in case we want to spread some kind of publication. Ink on Sky do not have any right to reproduce the material you publish without your prior consent. All content is reserved by the copyright of the artists and collaborators of the platform. Ink on Sky can only distribute your material on our tattoo portals, tattoo magazines or social publications associated with the project.

We do not intend to sell, reproduce, copy or damage your work or your image in any way. If at any time you decide that you no longer want to be part of the community, you can delete your profile and any trace of yourself will be deleted automatically and completely. It hasn't happened yet, but we know that option works.

    Thank you for trusting us.
  • How big is Ink on Sky?

The Ink on Sky team is made up of more than 75 people. We are located in several countries, Oklahoma (USA), Valletta (Malta), Hendaye (France), Madrid (Spain) and Barcelona (Spain).

The website with the highest number of classified tattoos
At the moment we are officially in 25 countries. Our monthly visits are counted in millions. Depending on the country we can receive more than 24.000 users per hour, something we are very proud of.

In terms of content, we collect the largest number of tattoos classified by author, style and tags. This allows us to offer the best search results in the market, infinitely better than you would get with Google, Instagram or any other online repository. It is important to remember that on Ink on Sky all works are published by their respective authors, so they are always linked to the creator.

We appear as the first result in the searches of tattooists by multiple cities, countries and tattooerson Google. This will probably be the most interesting feature of the community, as we position ourselves as the first choice when searching for tattooists on the internet.
  • Why should you trust us?

Ink on Sky fully respects the copyrights of the artists. Ink on Sky will never publish a tattoo without the personal permission of the artists.

We think like you and offer you a space designed for you
This question demonstrates our reason for existence. The Internet and the tattoos have never got along very well. Today there are thousands and thousands of pages dedicated to the world of tattooing, but they do not respect tattoo artists. We can find tattoos without the names of their authors everywhere. Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram are the places where most tattoos are copied without their authors' permission. There are also thousands of forums and blogs where tattoo pictures are used without mentioning their author.

Our mission is to eliminate these malpractices by always offering content created by their authors, or with their permission.

To oust the titans who create constant content, but without respecting the tattooers is complicated, but we have already achieved it in thousands of results in Google. This proves that our work is getting a good response from users and, above all, from tattooists who trust the community day after day and feed it with quality content.
  • How do appointments for tattooing work?

A system to get customers for free. Direct reception of appointments. Modifiable according to the preferences of the tattooist at any time.

Free and straightforward. Contact the artist using a simple form
The main attraction of Ink on Sky is its tattoo appointment system, whenever the tattooist desires it. The user can click on "make an appointment" from the profile of each artist or studio and complete a short form. Appointments are sent directly to the artists' personal emails, making it easier to read and increasing tattooers' response times.

The entire dating system is free of charge and does not involve any commission. Quotations are private and are only read by the recipient artists.

The main advantage of requests is that you can request an appointment without having to register. We want to eliminate any kind of barrier between users and tattooers.

If the tattoo artist does not want to receive appointments, they can disable this button from their account. If you open your calendar in the future, you can enable it again just as easily.
  • Are the profiles open to the public?

All published content is displayed to the general public. Your contact methods remain hidden for your safety.

It's all public, no hiding places
All the content of the web is public, as well as all its pages or sections. All profiles are public. The only information that is kept private are emails to avoid SPAM and personal data, which are kept encrypted on our servers. Appointment messages are also completely private between tattoo artists and users.

All publications are disseminated in all our portals (inkonsky.cl, inkonsky.es, inkonsky.uk...) simultaneously.

At Ink on Sky we have no problems with privacy policies. Everything is purely public.

If at any time you have any questions regarding your rights that are not answered in our privacy policy, you can contact us through our contact form.
  • Is it for free?

Our sponsors are the angels who allow us to keep this space in the sky, releasing the ink upon us.

Totalmente gratis y sin ningún tipo de comisión
Ink on Sky is completely free. No nonsense, no commissions, no strange rates. The community is kept alive thanks to the sponsors who support the project.

We know that many websites and tattoo repositories are fee-based, many of them work with commissions or cronyism. The potential of Ink on Sky is its objectivity, if the community were fee-based, we would surely cease to be objective in our value judgments.

If you are interested in sponsoring the community, you can contact us at any time from the contact form.
